Sexy Nerd — Kayley Loring
My Rating: ★★★★
Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️½
Wait... He's Always Loved Her?
I loved finding out that he hadn't suddenly developed feelings for her — he'd been carrying them all along.
I also love that he felt like he needed to create an entire plan just to talk to her and then somehow sneak her into his life on a trial basis with the ultimate goal of making her fall in love with him.
Instead of just, you know... traditionally dating her.
But that would've been too easy for the plot, right? And honestly, would I have been as interested if it were that easy? Probably not, because the banter between these two is part of what made this book so much fun.
His character development was one of my favorite parts. He's someone who thinks he can plan everything, and throughout the book he has to learn that life — and especially love — doesn't exactly work that way.
I also love a book that gives me both POVs. Getting his perspective and knowing that he had always been into her added another layer to their interactions because we knew what was going on in his head even when she didn't.
And then there's the ballet.
This man secretly went to watch her perform. She had no idea he was there. He brought her flowers, chickened out before he could actually give them to her, and ended up handing them off to someone backstage.
Meanwhile, he's just quietly loving her from the sidelines?!
Come on. 😭
The back-and-forth banter in this one was great, but those quieter moments were what made me really love their relationship.
I listened to this one on audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed the narrators. With a book that relies so heavily on banter and two different POVs, the narration made it that much more fun.
Would I Recommend It?
Absolutely. I'd recommend Sexy Nerd to pretty much any romance reader looking for something fun and easy to get through. You get great banter, dual POVs, spice, and a man who has apparently decided the most logical way to fall in love is to create an elaborate plan for it.
